Between us, we have had over 100 year’s experience as advocates and have appeared as both advocates and mediators in thousands of cases. We have acted as counsel and as mediators in Southeast Asia.

Mediation has been the pre-eminent means of commercial dispute resolution in Australia for decades. Virtually no major case goes to trial without at least one mediation. The great majority of commercial disputes are resolved by mediation, some taking place before the commencement of proceedings.
The Supreme Court of New South Wales alone orders approximately 1,000 mediations every year. Many others are instigated by the parties without Court order. With over 1,000 mediations of substantial commercial disputes taking place every year, there is a large pool of highly experienced mediators and mediation practitioners.
Virtually all significant commercial disputes are mediated on an ad hoc basis agreed between the parties. While the courts have overall supervision, they do not become directly involved in the conduct of the mediation.
As an experienced mediator controls the process, it is usually very fast and efficient. Competent mediators can arrange a mediation in days or weeks, not months. There are no administration fees.
Australian Senior Counsel argue the most important cases in our courts. Most senior mediators come from the ranks of Senior Counsel. There are some ex-judges (most of whom were Senior Counsel immediately prior to his or her judicial appointment).
The Singapore Convention on Mediation was signed by 46 countries on 7 August 2019, and focuses on the enforceability of settlement agreements arising out of mediation.
